“I WISH I COULD EAT CARBS TOO!!”
Have you ever said that? Or instead of *carbs*, have you said *bread*, *chocolate*, *peanut butter*, or anything else that is the thing that you want to eat but for some reason, think that you can't?
If you have said that, challenge yourself and ask why do you think you can't eat those things… and why do you feel all that food envy towards people who can and will eat those things without over thinking it.
Some Food Rules That Need To Go
Here are some myths about foods and food rules that don't serve us and are untrue.
🔺”I get fat if I even look at carbs.”
This is simply not true.
Carbs alone won't make you fat. It's overall calories that matter.
Besides, weight gain is not the worst thing that could ever happen to us, and what's even more, many people could use some weight gain! Those are women with hypothalamic amenorrhea for example. But you don't have to lose your period to know that you may need to eat more. Many women have other overtraining symptoms, and they would benefit from eating more if they're feeling fatigued, depressed, and their workout performance has dropped low. They need more rest, food, and yes, carbs.
🔺”I can't have (enter the food, food group or macronutrient) because that's not part of The Diet.”
We don't need to be on a diet if it's so restrictive. Just because other people around us are doing, it doesn't mean that we have to do it! We're each on our journey. What's necessary or works for some, can be absolutely unnecessary and not work or even be harmful for someone else.
🔺”I want to eat like she does! Must be nice to have bread, ice cream and chocolate!”
Yes, it is nice to eat the things we like!
We should all eat the things we like! It feels good to eat them and not binge on them. That's food freedom.
