You probably think that this is really weird: “What does having tough conversations have to do with relieving my chronic pain?”
Here's what:
Many of us are used to pushing down our own thoughts, opinions and needs in order to make others comfortable.
If something bothers you about the other person, you won't bring it up because you don't want to cause trouble.
So you keep it in…
Tell yourself that you're okay….
That it doesn't actually bother you as much…
And bringing it up would look dumb.
At the same time, you are annoyed and can't keep your mind off of it.
At the core of this is often the fear of rejection or abandonment. “What if the other person won't like me, thinks I'm crazy, or leaves me?”
But by not having these hard conversations, you keep pushing yourself down and abandoning yourself. And THIS is what is part of your chronic pain. Your pain represents the unspoken thoughts and needs, unexpressed emotions, and pushing down your true self.
Becoming the truest version of YOU means moving closer to chronic pain recovery.
Today's podcast is about the importance of having hard conversations, no matter how uncomfortable and even anxiety-producing they may be at first.
