You gained weight. What do you make it mean?
A lot of times we make weight gain mean something that it doesn’t need to mean at all.
For example:
💥I’m weak.
💥I have no willpower to keep my calories low.
💥I lose my health if I gain weight.
💥I won’t be loved as much as before.
💥I can’t do X until I lose weight.
💥 My body is out of balance now.
None of these things has to be true unless YOU decide that they're true!
Here’s what I want you to know and keep in mind instead:
👊🏻You’re strong. Willpower is finite and shouldn’t be relied on. Besides, you’re not even supposed to be able to starve yourself.
👊🏻Your health will very likely not suffer from some weight gain. It is not true that the thinner you are the healthier you are. There are plenty of examples where the exact opposite is true, for example anorexia or hypothalamic amenorrhea recovery.
👊🏻You will be loved. During the time I’ve coached women who have hypothalamic amenorrhea or body image issues, I‘ve never seen that anyone was left because of weight gain, or that family members stopped loving them because of weight gain.
👊🏻Never wait until you’re thin/lean enough to do something. What a waste of time, isn’t it? Besides, we never know how much time we really have…
👊🏻You’re the last person in the world who could be called lazy. You’ve done so many diets and spent hours a day working out – you’re harder worker than most. Giving yourself time to rest is healthy. Hustling every minute isn’t.
👊🏻 You’re likely metabolically and hormonally much more balanced at this weight compared to when you were underweight (for YOUR body). Here's why you may have health issues even if you aren't technically underweight!
