Today's interview is with the wonderful Rini of Own It Babe.
Rini is a personal trainer and group fitness trainer based in Calgary, Canada. She has a long history — 12 years, to be exact — of extreme dieting, trying almost every diet under the Sun, coupled with tons of exercise, from extreme cardio to bodybuilding.
As you may guess, this combination of under eating and training really hard is not great for your health… Rini lost her period, developed thyroid issues, and was extremely obsessed with how much she exercised and what she ate.
Today, Rini does amazing job teaching women to accept themselves and be exactly the way they are. I'm really grateful for being able to connect with her and bring you this interview — she's beautiful from the inside out. If you've ever struggled with body image and self worth and been a people pleaser… then after watching this interview, you probably feel like you've found your soul sister.

Bits and pieces from Rini:
[tweet_box design=”box_05″]When I was growing up, I was told to avoid all conflicts and always try to fit in. I became a people pleaser. I always tried to be friends with girls who I adored and looked up to. [/tweet_box] [tweet_box design=”box_05″]I thought that maybe if I look perfect, people will like me and I don't have to prove anything anymore because I'll just be beautiful. [/tweet_box] [tweet_box design=”box_05″]I lifted weights for 2 hours and do cardio after that in the evening. At the same time, I was struggling with anorexia which later morphed into bulimia which morphed into orthorexia. [/tweet_box] [tweet_box design=”box_05″]I did the keto diet before it actually cool. This diet completely messed up my hormones. [/tweet_box] [tweet_box design=”box_05″]I was not allergic to gluten but I had put this thought into my head that I have to avoid it. I basically made myself sick. [/tweet_box] [tweet_box design=”box_05″]Finally I truly surrendered to my recovery. I threw out my food scale, I stopped weighing myself, I decided to go with a flow and let my body do what it needed to do. [/tweet_box] [tweet_box design=”box_05″]At first, it's terrifying to put some chicken breast that you didn't weigh, on your plate and not knowing know how many grams that is. It really freaks you out. [/tweet_box] [tweet_box design=”box_05″]I took six weeks off from exercise to get my period back. I slept a lot and I let myself to eat. I missed the gym and I was addicted to it, but I just wanted to get my period back because I want to have children one day.[/tweet_box] [tweet_box design=”box_05″]I put on around 30 lbs. What happened: My muscle definition faded away. My skin cleared out. My period came back. My hair and finger nails grew back. I stopped looking so pale. [/tweet_box] [tweet_box design=”box_05″]Sometimes I go through days when I miss my old body, but I know I will never go back to my old habits.[/tweet_box]
