EP 371: Getting Started with Strength Training After Chronic Symptoms (TMS)

In today’s episode I give you practical tools for getting back to, or getting started with, strength training, if you’ve had a long break from it due to chronic health problems and nervous system dysregulation (TMS).

There are tips for managing your expectations when starting strength training, how to let go of the perfectionist mindset and how to handle setbacks. For example, can you HANDLE it when your performance isn’t as great today as it was in the workout you did 2 weeks ago? Or is all your progress gone because you couldn’t lift as heavy as you did last time?

I’m also talking about the power of visualization before your workout and what to do when you get pain or other sensations during the workout. The last thing that we want is you to freak out when you get a small sensation and then take a “break” for 6 months! Rest, but don’t stop 🙂

In addition, I’m going to break some myths about strength training that many people, TMS or not, often have. How often do you really need to change your workouts? And what is the most important factor that determines your success (Shhhh… It’s not weight loss.)
