366. Strength Training with Chronic Pain_ Dealing With Setbacks, Life Stress and Injuries

Today’s episode is mostly for those of you who have already started their strength training despite having some TMS chronic pain sensations. And that’s awesome! Strength training is SO important for everyone for both physical and mental health.

And this last one is where the main benefit is for people with TMS too: By starting strength training, you are proving to your brain that you are okay and that you are not afraid to move your body! As a result, you are starting to heal faster, as long as you don’t overdo the weights, intensity or duration of your workouts.

Sometimes obstacles come up. Here are three situations that I talk about in today’s episode:

You made good progress with your training but you had a difficult week and now your sensations went up. You needed to take a week off from your workouts. How can you get back on track? Where should you start?
You are having an extremely busy time with work that demands A LOT of your energy. How do you then adjust your workouts and your own expectations?
When a new pain shows up, how to know if it’s another TMS sensation or a real injury, and what should you do and what should you avoid in both of these cases?

If you haven’t started strength training yet because you have chronic sensations, I highly recommend these two resources:
