364. 7 Signs That You’re Making Progress with Chronic Pain Recovery Even If Your Main Symptom Is Still There

When you're dealing with a chronic pain or condition and put in the work to feel better, yet not much is happening, it’s often easy to feel like you're not making progress.

But what if you're actually healing, even if your main symptom is still present?

In order to recover from chronic pain and other chronic conditions, we need to rebalance our nervous system and create safety in it. So as you keep doing it through various tools, you may notice that before your biggest pain or sensation starts decreasing, some other things are starting to shift first.

For example, you may notice that you want to be more social again, while before you hardly ever wanted social connection. You also realize that people are more drawn to you and sometimes people who you don’t know start talking to you! That’s because the energy in you has shifted!

You may notice that you take more time with things that you used to just rush through before. For example, if you used to throw together simple meals and eat them really quick, or if you didn’t care much about food at all, now all of a sudden you like to spend more time in the kitchen, get more creative and try different recipes.

You may notice that you simply NOTICE more. For example, you go for a walk and you see a lot more than you saw before. You notice more colors, patterns, structures, buildings, trees…. Things that were always there but you never saw them!

All this happens because through the healing work you have done, you've created more peace, calm and safety in the nervous system. Your nervous system no longer needs to be on high alert all the time the way it was before (which created your chronic symptoms). It can finally feel more safe and relaxed.

There are more examples in today’s episode, so check it out!
