It’s Thanksgiving – Treat Your Body Right

Happy Thanksgiving, friends!

I hope you are having a great day and that you enjoy the company of your friends, family and other loved ones.

There are many things that I'm grateful for in my life, and I believe there are plenty of things every single day that we should appreciate. They may be small things, but small things add up and create bigger things.

One thing that I'm really thankful for is my body and its ability to move and do things that make me feel good.

I never take it for granted.

Unfortunately, there are so many times when we think that our bodies are imperfect, clumsy, fat, uncoordinated, ugly… without appreciating everything they do every single day.

We should change that attitude right this moment. Because we are what we think. If we keep telling us all the terrible things about our bodies, that's what they will turn.

Stay Moderate, Also Today

Also, remember to honor your body today as you are sitting down to a delicious meal. It's probably inevitable that we end up eating more than usual. That's fine, but do your best to stay moderate with your food.

You don't want to leave the table so stuffed that it's physically uncomfortable. Have you done that? If you have, remember how it felt. Not too good.

Eat slowly and choose the foods that you love the most, but don't feel the pressure to pile up your plate with absolutely everything that is on the table. You don't need to eat the mashed potatos if you don't like them too much just because that's a typical Thanksgiving food.

Having said that, make sure that you still truly enjoy everything you eat! Shame free and guilt free. It's doable, when you stay mindful and moderate.

Stay Moderate, Also Tomorrow

Nobody will lose weight tonight, that's for sure. Even of you stay fairly moderate, you will probably still eat more than usually. I know I will.

But don't spend the next day mindlessly trying to burn off all the calories that you ate. It's a great idea to work out, but it shouldn't be done to punish yourself for eating.

Beating yourself up is not good for your body or mind. Let's honor both of them and do our best to keep them happy today, tomorrow and any other day.

Have a great Thanksgiving!
