343. Success Story with Cat: How Journaling and Emotional Expression Completely Healed Her Chronic Back Pain

I could NOT be more excited to bring to you today’s podcast episode with Cat.

I shared a little bit about her chronic pain recovery story in episode 336 where I read to you how she described her recovery in an email to me. You can find that episode here: https://youtu.be/EevHlNuiA4c?si=ZgdXAX3EDy1dg12H

But today you get to meet Cat and hear all the details about going through this journey.

To me this has been one of the most amazing recovery stories that I’ve heard. Cat had been through SO much emotionally and dealt with lots of trauma. Her personality traits were very common to a person who gets TMS: She was always trying to do everything perfectly, always ready to help others, taking care of people close to her — but without giving herself the love and care that she needed.

For Cat, the biggest and most powerful step towards recovery was fully accepting that this really is TMS. Once she did that, she started writing about her emotions regularly, expressing everything that had been kept under the surface for years.

Here are some of the points from this conversation:

– You don’t have to “fix” all your past emotions and traumas
– You don’t have to “fix” your present emotions; acknowledging them is what matters the most
– Journaling is deeper and more powerful than just venting about the things that bother you
– You don’t have to completely change your personality in order to recover
– But you have to be very honest with your own feelings and stresses, and willing to address them!
