“If you have a body, you are an athlete”
– Bill Bowerman, cofounder of Nike
With this 4-part mini series, I share with you little bit about my health and fitness journey and how I've ended up where I am today. You'll see throughout this series, why I'm not your usual coach who just tells you to go hard or go home. I prioritize health just as much as I prioritize your physique goals, and because of that, I consider myself a very responsible coach.
I hope this series is interesting for you to listen to, and I always like to hear your story, too! So please send me a DM on Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/kerstenkimura/) or leave a reply under this post on my blog.
Yes, I consider myself an athlete and you should, too. I believe in Bill Bowerman's famous quote — If you have a body, you're an athlete. So when I call myself an athlete, I don't mean an olympic level athlete, although, as you'll learn from this episode, this was certainly my dream…
I have been active most of my life. I got started with track and field at the age of 9. Couple of years later I started basketball too.
My mom and grandparents really wanted me to take piano classes, which I did… But soon realized that I don't like it the tiniest bit. All I ever dreamed of was becoming the best track athlete in the world 🙂
Well, that didn't happen. Although I was the hardest worker in our training group and could have out trained anyone, I wasn't naturally gifted enough to make the big dreams I had come true.
But those years of hard work and dedication definitely shaped my forever love for fitness.
