Today we’re talking about the emotion of shame and how it’s making your life difficult, including causing you physical sensations, anxiety and depression.
Do you often feel bad about yourself? Are you terrified of making mistakes? Do you hide your “negative” emotions because you think they are bad, and “positive” emotions and success because you don’t want others to feel bad?
Do you often look down? When you were younger, did you have a hard time looking people in their eyes? Was (or is) your posture hunched over, like you were trying to hide yourself, be invisible?
Do you sometimes feel that there’s something wrong with you and you just can’t show your real self, so people pleasing seems like a better option?
If some or all of things were true, then today’s episode is just what you need.
I’m reading to you a chapter from Melody Beattie’s book The Language of Letting Go, where she describes the nature of this emotion of shame, how it shows up, and how we can take the power back from it. Get the book here: https://amzn.to/3yGWJQl
